Tichina Johnson graduated from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 2006 with a Bachelor’s of Science in Chemical Engineering. Thereafter, she attended Albany Law School and received her Juris Doctor with a concentration in Intellectual Property in 2009. Subsequently, Ms. Johnson practiced in the areas of defense medical malpractice, products liability, and general liability while an associate at Albany-based Carter, Conboy, Case, Blackmore, Maloney & Laird, P.C.
Upon relocating to her native Westchester County, Ms. Johnson began litigating on behalf of indigent Westchester County residents as a staff attorney with Legal Services of the Hudson Valley. While assigned to the Elder Law Unit, Ms. Johnson developed an interest in elder law issues and represented elders before various tribunals, as well as preparation of advanced directives, powers of attorneys, healthcare proxies, and wills.
When the opportunity arose, Ms. Johnson joined the City of Mount Vernon Law Department. As an assistant corporation counsel, she provided advice and counsel to various city boards and department heads, as well as represented the city in U.S.C. Section 1983 and employment cases before the Southern District.
Ms. Johnson joined the Westchester County Surrogate’s Court in 2016 as a court attorney. Her initial duties included heading the Miscellaneous Department and providing procedural advice to self-represented litigants and attorneys. She currently serves as a Court Attorney Referee within the Law Department.
